To provide an opportunity for children and families to see some of the real turtles that inhabit his children's books in person, local author and illustrator Bob Palmatier will be hosting the first annual Durham TurtleFest! Take a look at the fascinating world of native turtle species, including a Diamondback Terrapin, Spotted Turtles, baby Mud and Blandings Turtles, and other turtle species. Palmatier's books Stormy's Return and The Tiny Turtle of the Marsh will be available for signing, as well as note cards and matted prints from his book illustrations. His original paintings were featured in a gallery show at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in March, and will be at the NC Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill in September and October.
