North Carolina author Jay Erskine Leutze will read from and sign copies of his new book, Stand Up That Mountain: The Battle to Save One Small Community in the Wilderness Along the Appalachian Trail. This is the true, compelling story of a man living alone in Western North Carolina who teams up with his community to save a mountain peak from a mining company. In this David vs. Goliath story, Leutze uses his legal background to build a case against the Clark Stone Company and help save Belview Mountain and protect one of the most fragile stretches of the Appalachian Trail. Leutze was trained as an attorney and lives in North Carolina. He is a Trustee for the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, one of the nation’s most established land trusts.
